~Style Me Pretty Feature ~

Gals,

we were so chuffed to see one of our pieces featured in a recent photo shoot on one of our favourite bridal blogs "Style Me Pretty". The photography and styling is sensational thanks to photographer Carla Ten Eyck and the stunning styling capabilities of Candice Dowling of www.eventjubilee.com ,so its a huge treat to find that our antique tea stain rococco wrap made its way into the overall Fall Inspired Wedding Shoot.

A huge heartfelt thanks to the crew at "Style Me Pretty", Carla and Candice for their continued support we are honored to be featured on such a stunning bridal blog in such a fabulously stylish fashion.

If you would like to check out the feature you can click here. :)

Client Corner ~ Rachel

Gals,
One of our recent brides Rachel rocked the Marie Antoinette bolero with her gorgeous wedding outfit. I love the vibrant colors in Rachels special day, the feminine ruffles against her stunning artwork, that stunning floral bouquet and that dreamy blue sky. Rachel looks like a perfect bride on a perfect day!

We hope Rachel had a magical time and we are excited to see our work playing such a nice part in the bridal ensemble. ;)

Irish Brides Magazine Feature!

Gals, we have been so looking forward to sharing this particular magazine feature, and as publishing goes, its important to only share the news after its been released to the public. We had an opportunity to work with one of Irelands top stylists Tanya Grimson and we were blown away by the results, very hauntingly beautiful and with a really mystical aesthetic, its been so incredible to be involved in such a high profile collaboration.

We hope you gals like it too..

Client Corner ~ Liz

Hi Gals,

Its been a long time since we checked in with you all, a lot has been happening over the last wee while. The laptop took a sabatical for quite some time whilst my charger decided to give up the ghost so I have been without all my photographs for ages and finally have managed to get the technology back in action again. I was also away on my holidays for a week in London with my sister and we had an amazing trip so theres lots of catching up to do here in the studio.

One of the loveliest things to come home to is photographs from our brides of their wedding day and how our piece worked out with their ensemble. One such bride was Liz who actually bought her wedding dress around her teal bolero and chose something that would compliment it overall. I love the pop of rich teal color within Liz's look, its a really fresh approach to bridal and really adds a new dimension to the traditional color palette. Liz was such an awesome client to work with and we are so chuffed to have featured in her special day.

We wish Liz and her new Hubbie the best of all that Married life has to offer. xxxx

Londons Calling!

Gals,
During the year we were invited to showcase at a very high profile Wedding Event in London, we were absolutely chuffed with the invitation and we are taking a wee trip over tonight to visit the October show to scope out the set up and hopefully have a few tips and tricks for showcasing our own label in February at the next show!
Heres what the website says about the show, if your in the area it would be worth a trip!
The Designer Wedding Show UK
Bringing together both high-profile designers and less well-known names (those hard-to-find but brilliant-to-discover specialists), The Designer Wedding Show presents the most covetable collection of 130 companies offering everything for stylish weddings. And it makes the complex task of planning your wedding much simpler.
Instead of spending weeks requesting company brochures, visiting designers' showrooms, trawling the internet and hitting the phone, you can spend one day in a relaxed and focused environment at The Designer Wedding Show finding everything you need.
Alongside an exceptional choice of bridal fashion you will also be able to choose the best of everything else from companies, including all those featured on this site, offering: exquisite stationery, beautiful millinery, stylish menswear and divine bridesmaids fashion; couture shoes, designer jewellery, stunning fashion for the mother of the bride, inspirational photography, scrumptious cakes, fabulous venues, smart gift lists and heavenly flowers.
So its roadtrip time again folks, Ger and I are hitting the Airport tonight for a quick flight and hoping to catch the show in the morning ( of course one has to slip in a trip to see Les Miserables in the West End too while we are there! It would be indecent not too! ;)
See you all again very soon, its a flying visit. xx

Studio Bustle!

Guys, thought you might enjoy a wee glimpse into my favourite mannequin in the studio at the moment. Loving the bustle-esque style of this piece at the moment and its distracting my eye all week from my position at the table! lol

On another positive note, our coquette ruffled wrap made an appearance on daytime TV this week on RTE's The Afternoon Show. It was featured on a fantastic fashion segment by Irish Stylist Tanya Grimson and we are busy trying to figure out the "techy" aspect of trimming and Mpeg4 file so that we can share the wee segment with you all.

It was a lovely surprise to see one of our pieces on TV and Ger rang me from her sitting room where she was jumping around like a baboon ( her words!) as a result of seeing our piece on the small screen! ;) I can't imagine what we will be like when the big feature hits RTE this year! yikes!
xx
Hope everyone is having a nice week

Client Corner ~ Lindsey & Jared

Gals,

We received the loveliest email yesterday from a one of our clients Lindsey & Jared. We spent ages swooning over their photography, the styling involved in the wedding, the location, the bride, the groom, heck even the guests were cool in this wedding! The overall theme had a very relaxed antiquated feel to it and the wedding album just captured the most magical day!

The photographer for the wedding was Christina Gilchrist out of Portland, Oregon. Her website is: http://captured-momentsphotography.com/ , we spent an afternoon oogling through Lindseys wedding album online and this photographer is one talented lady!

Lindsey and Jared wed in Cannon Beach, Oregon last month and we would both love to wish you guys a fabulous time together. It was an absolute pleasure working with you on your bolero.

Dads Fantastic News!

Gals,
Ive been so excited this weekend with news of a more personal nature. My dad recently embraced his passion for photography and has been honing his craft this year with some pretty intensive practicing sessions. Well the news broke this week that Dad has his first exhibition booked and will be aiming to showcase his body of work before christmas in a local venue.

This is awesome news guys as Dad spent his whole life working in a different job and denying his creative streak only to revisit it after life took a new path. I'm probably his most biased biggest fan and his work really inspires me everyday so I wanted to share one of his portrait studies with you as they are so sweet.

Sophie is my only niece and my Godchild and Dad managed to capture his granddaughter in what can only be described as a really special Rembrandt-esque piece. I love the mood of both shots and the elegant line of Sophie's neck in the pic, her dance training is already evident in her posture and I love how photography captures her little mannerisms.

Well done Dad and here's to a fabulous exhibition.
We will be sure to share pictures from the night.

A quick capture!

Gals,

During our recent filming debut the photographer managed to capture a couple of snaps of the action on the day. I love the pic with the blurred TV cameraman in the background. It reminds me of the surrealism of the whole day. We all had a blast and we are looking forward to sharing the feature with you all when it hits the box!

Cuteville Client Corner ~ Ava

Ava practicing her Milan strut!

Guys,

We have been dying to share the most recent client corner with you all as it was such a lovely experience for everyone involved. One of Etsy's finest "Liaison" got in touch to create a bolero for her adorable daughter Ava who happens to be one of the tiniest fashionistas we have come to meet to date. We created one of our silver Victorian Boleros in miniature for Ava as it was to match in with her beautiful dress for a special family event and she looked absolutely adorable in all her finery.
Mom Katherine runs her own stunning label creating out of this world wearable art for quirky rockstars and the like! We have attached a sample of Katherines work above but you can see lots more at http://www.liaison.etsy.com/ , you will be blown away by this ladies talents!
All round a really fun collaboration and a fantastic little girl!

Canary Yellowness!

Hi Gals,

We have been sourcing some new shades of silk to bring into our Bridal range of late and I was hopelessly drawn to this rich Regal Yellow Shade on the silk swatch book. I kept leaving it and going back to it, heck, I think even Ger thought I had lost my marbles when I told her we had just purchased a lot of yellow! ( baring in mind that Im not a gal for too much color and always tend to lean towards old muted tones ) so this vivid yellow is a welcome change for me. :)

I like to think of it as a Tudor style yellow as its got a very regal finish to it when its made up into boleros and wraps etc. It also rocks with ivory for bridal ....so now ladies all we need are a few very stylish brave gals to be edgy enough to add a pop of color to their special day!

Back in Action!

Hi Gals.........

Its been a crazy week!! We had a blast with our TV gig, and we are really looking forward to sharing that with you all when its screened. As with most media gigs, its not up for sharing just yet until the station have their go first but for sure we will be blogging it, facebooking it and youtubing it when it does air, so there will be lots of opportunities to see it.

Ger and I are generally very shy with regards to photos etc so it was a nailbiting experience to be filmed by a National TV station and we have been on a come down ever since.

We took our etsy shop off Vacation Mode and reopened for business and quite literally the floodgates opened up! *note to self : never a good idea to take a week off etsy!!! The week after is a minefield of convoing, catching up on orders, shipping and all out general mayhem while we catch up on ourselves again!

Oh, we also sent a big box of goodies up to an Irish Bridal Magazine in Dublin so we are very excited to see how that works out and we will of course be sure to share the results with you when they hit the shelves.

Meanwhile back at the ranch we got a fabulous email from one of our delightful clients, Carina ( yes that's the girl one of our boleros is named after!) and she recently had an opportunity to write a review in Viva La Moda magazine, we were blown away by what Carina wrote about her experience with us and it literally brought a tear to my eye to know that something we do with our hands can mean so much to others. Its a lovely reminder of how grateful we are to be earning a living with our creativity.

Thank you sincerely to Carina. xxx

Our wee "bonzie" store on http://www.bonzie.etsy.com/ has just been placed in vacation mode to give us a better chance of focusing in the studio on preps for both events. All will be returned to normal within a week and we hope to meet all your bolero and couture needs again soon. :)

For now its all systems go and busyville for a week, its all very exciting in the bonzie studios at the moment and we are looking forward to sharing our news with you all soon. xxx

How Steampunk is this!!

Gals,

I just had to share this recent snap from Dad. It doesn't get much more "Steampunk" than this!!!

Its a photo taken of a local chemist/pharmacy in my hometown, Clonmel. Unbelievably this establishment was open when I was a child and Mam used to purchase ointments and interesting lotions in gorgeous glass apothecary style jars with labels and twine on them. Its got such antiquated character, almost reminds me of a set from a Tim Burton film!!

Folk often ask us where we get our inspiration from and quite simply a local building like this will fuel the creative juices every time! Honestly, can you not see a jacket in this picture??

Client Corner ~ Julia

Gals, we swooned collectively over the most recent client corner entry. Julia, Julia, Julia!!! What a wonderfully romantic shot taken by Jennifer Dominick of Love Life Images . The ruffles, the kiss, the guard of honor, the hunky uniformed hubbie!! It doesn't quite get much better than this.

Julia approached us with a need for an elegant bridal bolero to rock with her gorgeous designer dress and we were to delighted to work with this lovely lady. Julia's dress features a dramatic plunging back line and we worked together to modify our Carina bolero to work with the dress and judging from Julias picked the whole look came together beautifully. We were absolutely thrilled to receive such lovely wedding pictures back after the wedding. It was a delight working with Julia and a treat to share in the pics afterwards.

Ger and I would love to extend our warmest wishes to this remarkably lovely couple and we hope you have an amazing adventure together. ;)

Client Corner ~ Anne

Gals,
We just received a batch of photographs back from some of our International clients after their weddings and we are very excited to be sharing some with our blogreaders.
Anne recently flew to Banff (Alberta), in the beautiful Rocky Mountains - to wed her sweetheart and a fabulous time was had by all. I can only imagine how magical and breathtaking the scenery was in such an inspiring location! Anne chose a Carina Bolero from our 2009bridal range to compliment her stunning couture wedding gown, in fact every piece that Anne wore on her wedding day was handmade down to the finest details. I think its this attention to detail that really brings out an aura on the day!

Anne was a dream to work with and we enjoyed receiving her pics afterwards, it really makes the exchange between designer and client super special when you get to see the piece in action on the special day!

Ger and I would like to wish Anne and her dreamy new hubbie every happiness and contentment on their new journey together. Thank you for inviting us to be a part of such a special day for you both, its been a joy working with you.

Teal Silk Bridal Bolero/Wrap!

Who would have thought 20 years ago we would be actually opting for anything other than white to get wed in! I'd imagine champagne was pushing the boundaries back then and considered quite fashion forward and edgy!

Well forward a few decades and its any one's preference. Brides nowadays are not afraid to experiment with colors and inject a shot of teal or splash of red and green into their overall bridal look. One of the best ways to remain within the safe neutral bridal colors is to introduce an accent color with your bridal accessories, whether its a head piece, a bolero or some funky corsages.
We have been sourcing some of the richest shades around to offer our bridal boleros and silk wraps in an array of colors and these will be added to the shop soon. :) We also offer most of the silk bridal boleros that you see in our store in a range of colors if you do happen to find a style you like and would be daring enough to request a hot color then get in touch, hit us up on facebook

One of our pieces from a previous photoshoot with Zeba Hair Group on Dublin and Dublin Based Stylist, Roxanne Parker has been featured up on the National TV station, RTE Website! Gers hubbie came upon this little nugget by accident online scouring the fashion pages, ( as you do!) and he instantly recognised the picture.

The feature is an interview with the fabulously talented Hair Stylist, Stephen Kelly who we had the pleasure to work with on the photoshoot. Check out their website here to oogle after their artistic creations.

It brought a smile to our day today. :)

Fabulous Bridal Blog find!

Gals,

We were so excited to receive a wee email today from the talented folk over at the "Inventing Weddings" Blog. Bonnie wrote to us to let us know that one of our boleros had been recently featured in a post over there on Bridal Shabby Chic. I immediately went over for a visit and I am so glad to have found this particular blog. This is an absolutely fantastic resource for the style savvy bride who is hoping to inject a little bit of something special into their big day.
Bonnie takes a color scheme and theme and creates truly beautiful mood boards, like the one above, bringing together an array of handmade pieces, mostly from http://www.etsy.com/ and provides color palettes, fonts the whole shebang. Its a practical wedding planner at your fingertips, and one with bags of style, a veritable feast of ideas and online resources. I got lost scrolling through the various different wedding themes and I can only imagine what a great resource and inspiration this site would be for brides planning their own big day.

If your wondering where to begin in terms of your wedding theme why not pay the Bonnie a visit at http://www.inventingweddings.blogspot.com/. Your creative juices will be overflowing afterwards!

Sunny Photoshoots!

Hey Gals,

Ger and I held a photoshoot yesterday to add some new stock to the shop. It was a sunny day here in Ireland but very windy, which led to some very intersting windswept shots!

Irish Model, Lucy Fitzgerald worked beautifully for the shoot and leant a really ethereal feel to the overall look with her captivating blue eyes which just sparkled out of each shot. Lucy also happens to be my cousin and a trained dancer too which was a real treat to work with in terms of posing and poise. We had a fun day which involved very glamorous slurry puddles and spritely pheasants frightening the life out of the 3 of us on the barn shots!

Check out the results of the shoot with some of the newest bridal boleros being added to the shop. ;)

Travelling in Style!!

Hi Gals,

Wanted to share a couple of pics of one of our recent clients here in our very own town. Margaret and Iain created the most fantastic wedding day, complete with castles, helicopter, kilts and not forgetting one of our very own bridal pieces, the Elizabethan Long Bridal Coat. You might remember it from a while back, well Margaret opted for a shorter version of the coat to accompany her stunning short Audrey Hepburn style dress underneath.
Margaret looked absolutely stunning on the day and totally rocked those shoes too! It was a really fun wedding to be a part of, a dream customer who really enjoys quirky design and creativity.

Ger and I would like to wish both Iain and Margaret a very happy journey together, it was a pleasure being a part of your special day.

Unplanned Sabaticals!

Hi Gals,
It feels like its been an age since we have been round in blogland to update you all and add new postings. A lot has been happening since our feature and its been quite a whirlwind over the last few weeks. I think the run up to the feature and also the intense workload of custom orders we had remaining on our neverending lists took its toll on both of us and we were well and truelly frazzled for the last wee while. I don't think I have ever answered so many emails and queries in my life and I have had an aversion to technology for the last couple of weeks, hence the tumbleweed running through our blog of late.

But alas, recuperation is complete, we have both enjoyed a couple of days out of town, been getting some much needed vitamin D of the sunny variety and have managed to be reintroduced to the bottom of our laundry baskets for the first time in months ( scratch that, lets say years !
We also went to a super meeting today with a local community resource group who are keen to work with our wee growing business and we feel invigorated bout new plans and upcoming projects.

I guess we took a wee bit of time to "sharpen the tools" as Gers hubbie often puts it! A rest sometimes pays off dividends in reviving the soul!

That being said I need to update you guys on the 3 winners of our "Thanking You" competition that we mentioned a couple of weeks ago.

Congrats to

~~~ Pampering Beki ~~~ ( from blog comments )
~~~ Carri ~~~~ ( from blog comments )
~~~ Shay Crammer ~~~ ( from etsy convos )
Reality Bites!
New Edition to the Shop, Napoleona Red Velvet Coat
Gals,
First and foremost a humongous THANK YOU! to all of our friends and supporters who chimed in with well wishes this week during our etsy "Featured Seller" gig. We were absolutely blown away by the response and felt so thankful to all of our pals on etsy who took time out of their day to share their positivity and warmness with us, we are eternally grateful. :)
In the midst of what can only be described as a tornado going through the studio with over 300emails and a big spike in orders we had a moment of reprieve in the guise of a wee little boy who always brings a smile into our day no matter what we are doing. Ger and I had lots of stock prepared for the feature in advance and we hadn't managed to fit in a photo shoot prior to it so we had to do a quickie photo session out Gers back garden in the middle of the week. Just as Ger was getting into it ( baring in mind Ger is a mom of 3 and has only been rail roaded into modelling by me out of pure necessity on the days that one of our in house models, Niamh, Jez or Judith are at work etc.) , a pose here and a pose there and I was admiring Gers improvisation when just out of the corner of our eyes Gers littlest , who was just home from school, potters over in his Thomas the Tank Engine slipper to where we were shooting and innocently says to Ger, " mam, is me egg ready yet! "
This was enough for the both of us, we were rolling round the garden in hysterics, I don't know if it was the stress of the week, or the fact that we were really getting into the shoot when he brought us right back down to earth. Gers says through the tears rolling down her face, " Ya wouldn't want to be thinking your Kate Moss or anything would ya! " .
Well, its a very glamorous life indeed! lol
We would love to say a big thanks to all of our online pals who jumped in with messages of support and warm wishes, we felt very special receiving all of your good vibes. :)
